Laura Carter is een Engelse illustrator die gevestigd is in Eindhoven. Met haar liefde voor traditionele technieken en de magie van de natuur, weet ze als geen ander haar passie op jou over te brengen. Haar kunstwerken tonen fantastische verhalen rijk aan natuurlijke details. Verhalende elementen staan centraal, of het nu gaat om een enkele afbeelding van een uil die door een stemmige nachtelijke hemel zweeft of een reeks illustraties die het verhaal vertellen van een kleine avonturier in het bos. Vaak worden deze afbeeldingen vertaald naar of gebruikt voor praktische analoge objecten zoals notitieboekjes, bladwijzers, schrijfsets, agenda's en posters. Haar oog voor kwaliteitsdrukwerk, tactiele en milieubewuste materialen zorgt ervoor dat deze producten lang meegaan en gekoesterd worden. Haar liefde voor de natuur is de drijfveer achter alles, van ontwerp tot productie, een proces dat ze in dertien jaar als freelance illustrator heeft verfijnd.
Tijdens de tentoonstelling ontdekt u hoe het verhaal in Laura's kunst wordt opgebouwd, van geïnspireerde schetsen tot aquarel- en potloodtekeningen. De voltooide werken worden getoond naast schetsboeken en inspiratiemateriaal, evenals experimenten en aantekeningen over haar artistieke praktijk.
Naast het maken van zowel zelfgeïnitieerde als in opdracht gemaakte kunstwerken, geeft Laura les in haar atelier, werkt ze in de tuin of wandelt ze door het bos.

Laura Carter is an English illustrator based in Eindhoven. With a love for traditional techniques and the natural world, she brings a sense of wonder to the page. Her artwork portrays fantastical stories rich with natural details. Narrative and storytelling elements are key, whether it’s a single image of an owl swooping through a moody night sky or a series of illustrations telling the story of a tiny adventurer out in the big wild woods. Often these images are translated or intended for useful and often analogue objects such as notebooks, bookmarks, writing sets, planners and posters. A careful eye for quality printwork, tactile and eco-conscious materials means these goods are meant to last and be cherished. A love of nature informs everything from design to production, a process that has been honed over thirteen years as a freelance illustrator.
During the exhibition you’ll discover how the narrative of Laura’s art is built up from inspired sketch to watercolour and pencil characters. Final pieces will be shown alongside sketchbooks and inspiration material, along with experiments and notes on her artistic practice.
Alongside producing self-initiated as well as commissioned artworks, you can find Laura teaching in the studio, in the garden or tramping through the woods practicing her analogue photography skills.
