Payal Puthran is een autodidactische Indiase artiest die al meer dan tien jaar in Nederland woont. Ze specialiseert zich in het illustreren van gerechten en recepten, waarbij ze traditionele en digitale technieken combineert.

Geïnspireerd door voedselnostalgie begon ze met het schetsen van een Indiaas dessert tijdens een gesprek met haar moeder—een moment dat uitgroeide tot DishDoodler.

Vandaag de dag geniet Payal er enorm van om een recept te ontleden en vervolgens stapsgewijs te schilderen om deze nostalgische illustraties voor haar cliënten in India, Europe en USA te creëren.

Joyce Uijtdehaage is een Nederlandse kunstenares en de creatieve kracht achter Studio Vorm en Vlam, waar ze haar passie voor eten en keramiek combineert. Met een focus op iconische lekkernijen transformeert Joyce geliefde traktaties in handgemaakte keramische kunst. Haar Ceramic Bakery Collection bevat klassieke Nederlandse lekkernijen zoals stroopwafels en spritskoekjes, maar ook internationale favorieten zoals croissants, kaneelbroodjes en boterkoekjes met jam als uitlekbakje.

Als kunstenares haalt Joyce haar inspiratie uit de warme, nostalgische kracht van eten. Elk stuk is zorgvuldig gemaakt om niet alleen het uiterlijk van deze lekkernijen vast te leggen, maar ook de herinneringen en gezelligheid die ze met zich meebrengen. Via haar keramiek nodigt Joyce je uit om voedsel niet alleen als iets om te eten te zien, maar als een kunstwerk dat gekoesterd mag worden.

In deze expositie toont Joyce haar Ceramic Bakery Collection, met een diversiteit aan keramische lekkernijen, waaronder ‘Stroopwafel’ onderzetters, 'Sprits' koekjes, croissants, kaneelbroodjes en boterkoekjes met jam als uitlekbakje. Een speelse en artistieke kijk op vertrouwde gebakjes!

Payal and Joyce warmly welcome you to their exhibition, where ceramics and illustrations bring to life the warm memories of grandma’s kitchen. From stroopwafels and spritsen to stories that take you back to the scent of stamppot, Chai, and the coziness of times gone by.

Payal Puthran is a self-taught Indian artist based in the Netherlands for over a decade, specializing in food and recipe illustrations. She transforms beloved recipes into visual memories, seamlessly blending traditional and digital mediums to capture the essence of flavors on canvas.

Living abroad, food nostalgia became a familiar companion. In her search for connection, Payal found a heartfelt way to bridge the distance—by painting the dishes that reminded her of home. What began as a simple doodle while reminiscing with her mother about an Indian dessert soon evolved into her signature style of illustrated recipes, giving rise to DishDoodler.

Today, the artist deconstructs recipes into beautifully painted steps, creating evocative, nostalgia-infused illustrations for clients across India, the U.S., and Europe.
